Progression Guide
MITE progression is not "punch wood, then mine." Harvesting requirements, workbenches, furnace heat, and material tools gate one another. The route below is a standard path that does not depend on lucky shortcuts.
1. Survive the first day
- Gather surface food and mix meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, and dairy when possible.
- Obtain sticks, flint chips, and low-tier materials from leaves, grass, and gravel.
- Craft flint tools. Logs require an axe; stone and ores require a pickaxe.
- Build a flint workbench and leave clearance above the work area.
- Prepare an enclosed shelter before nightfall. Blood moons prevent sleep, and even normal nights are more dangerous than vanilla.
Press N to open the nutrition screen by default, or click the apple button beside the survival inventory. The HUD's nutrition value is not vanilla saturation. Eating only one food eventually unbalances your reserves.
2. Obtain your first metals
- Sifting through gravel provides progressive flint and metal-chip drops and is an early resource source.
- Copper uses vanilla copper ore, ingots, and blocks. MITE adds copper nuggets, tools, workbenches, anvils, buckets, and processing chains.
- Silver has its own ore and equipment, with additional uses against undead.
- Establish a low-tier furnace before processing minerals with a fuel hot enough for the input. A burning fuel is not necessarily hot enough.
Recommended order:
Flint -> Copper/Silver/Gold -> Iron -> Ancient Metal -> Mithril -> Adamantium
Obsidian is a special nonmetal branch. An obsidian workbench only supports the flint and obsidian tiers; it is not interchangeable with every advanced bench.
3. Establish a production base
- Upgrade to material workbenches that unlock higher-tier recipes.
- Repair equipment on material anvils with matching metal nuggets.
- Grow wheat, carrots, potatoes, onions, and blueberries; keep farmland moist and fertilize it with manure.
- Give cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens food, water, outdoor space, and fencing. Unwell livestock produce less.
- Spread risk: crops can become diseased, animals can panic, and a blood moon increases both agricultural and combat pressure.
4. Enter the Underworld
Standard obsidian portals follow a route based on their dimension and frame foundation:
Overworld -> Underworld -> Nether
The Underworld centers on deepslate caves, dense ore veins, bedrock terrain, and a fluctuating mantle near Y=27 to 32. Do not dig straight down: mantle terrain ignites the surrounding space, and deep creatures are much stronger than early overworld monsters.
5. Rune Gates and late game
- Mithril and adamantium rune stones each have 16 patterns.
- Right-click the crafting output slot to change the pattern.
- Light an obsidian portal and place same-material rune stones in all four corners to form a rune gate.
- The four-pattern arrangement determines a stable, long-distance destination within the current dimension. Rune Gates do not cross dimensions or create return portals.
- Adamantium rune gates have at least eight times the radius of mithril gates, and their destinations are at least 20,000 blocks from spawn.
In the late game, equipment quality, enchantments, material arrows, moon-phase spawning, and village unlocks determine efficiency. Recipe viewers show recipes that the current server configuration has not disabled, but they do not bypass workbench, skill, or survival-state requirements.
